DIY Food Dehydrator – Ghar Par Banana Ka Tareeqa
Step 1: Required Materials (Cheezen)
-
140L PET crate – ₹14,000 (strong aur stackable)
-
Food-grade stainless steel mesh – Trays ke liye
-
2 DC fans – ₹100–150 each
-
Ceramic heater – Primary heat source
-
250–300W bulb – Secondary heat source (fine tuning)
-
Digital temperature controller with probe – ₹700
-
Aluminum foil tape – Gaps seal karne ke liye
-
Drill + 6mm drill bit – Ventilation holes ke liye
-
Insulation material – Old blanket ya foam for heat jacket
-
Wires, DC-DC converters, switches – Electrical setup ke liye
-
Markers – Tray labeling ke liye
Step 2: Prepare the Crate
-
PET crate ko clean karen.
-
68 ventilation holes (6mm) drill karen – evenly har side par.
-
Gaps ko aluminum foil tape se seal karen, airflow block na ho.
Step 3: Build Trays
-
Stainless steel mesh ko tray size ke hisaab se cut karein:
-
Short trays: 28 × 38 × 2.5 cm (quick-dry items)
-
Large trays: Bulkier items
-
-
Trays ko reinforce brackets ke saath support karein.
-
Mark karen: “SHORT”, “TOP”, “GARLIC” etc.
Step 4: Install Fans
-
Bottom fan → warm air push kare
-
Top fan → air pull kare
-
Fans ko DC-DC converters se connect karein (12V supply)
-
Ensure vertical convection loop – uniform airflow
Step 5: Install Heaters
-
Ceramic heater → primary heat source
-
Bulb → secondary, fine-tuning
-
Temperature controller probe ko crate ke andar place karein
-
Set temperature 50–60°C
-
Timer set karein → 12 hours run, auto-off
Step 6: Insulation & Safety
-
Old blanket ya foam se heat jacket bana ke crate ke sides wrap karein
-
Ensure crate stable ho, wires properly insulated ho
Step 7: Load Trays
-
Bottom tray → high moisture items (bananas, strawberries)
-
Middle tray → medium moisture (kinu, oranges)
-
Top tray → slow-dry / aromatic (garlic, lemons)
-
Leave space between trays for airflow (~5–8 cm)
Step 8: Start Dehydrator
-
Power on
-
Check airflow aur temperature
-
Adjust fan speed ya heat if needed
-
Drying time:
-
Bananas → 6–8 hours
-
Garlic → 12–14 hours
-
Citrus → 8–10 hours
-
Step 9: Post-Drying
-
Trays nikal ke cool down karen
-
Dried fruits/garlic ko airtight jars me store karein
-
Clean trays → rinse & dry
Tips
-
Moisture-rich items hamesha lower trays pe rakhein
-
Airflow ko block na karein → uniform drying
-
Winter mein insulation aur heater adjust karein
-
Bulb fine-tuning ke liye use karein, case-hardening avoid karne ke liye
-
Experiment karein → local fruits aur sizes ke saath
